TECHNIQUE & FINDINGS
To make the necklace I used a Japanese braiding technique called Kumihimo (“gathered threads”). It’s the time-consuming technique but the results that can be achieved through it are stunning. A piece of wire inside a braid makes the bangle flexible but keeps the shape so you can adjust it to your wrist.
The balls are needle felted (a dry felting technique). It is also a time-consuming technique, but it does not require the use of detergents, and the alpaca fleece retains its natural character. Even after felting, the balls are still very soft! I also value needle felting for the possibility of obtaining flexible and yet durable shapes.
The necklace is finished with a lobster and has an extension chain.
Surgical stainless steel has a hypoallergic formula. It’s not the same as alpaca or cheap metal!
